Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country, and an important economic power on the continent. A developing democracy, Nigeria’s 2007 election represented the first civilian-to-civilian transfer of power in its history. Policy makers have taken steps to assist Nigeria’s development, and results have been seen in areas of education and gender equality. Sustaining these positive changes will entail continued focus on strengthening Nigeria’s democratic institutions; and promoting good governance. By helping to build Nigeria’s future leaders, Leadership Africa USA is investing in Nigeria’s future.
