Ghana

The Republic of Ghana located in the West Coast of Africa, shares boundaries with Togo (to the east); Cote d’Ivoire (to the west); Burkina Faso (to the north); and the Gulf of Guinea (to the south).Since its independence from British rule in 1957, Ghana has made strides to tackle the poverty-inducing issues faced by a significant portion of its population, estimated at 24 million (2010 estimate). Like many developing countries, Ghana has a very youthful population with approximately 40% of the population being under 14 years of age and 25 % between 15 and 24 years of age. Therefore, economic and social issues of particular relevance to the youth population are critical for Ghana’s continued growth and development.
