“Leadership: The Key to the Development of a Nation”

One of the keys to a nation’s development is good leadership. Working from this premise, Leadership Africa USA held a leadership workshop, with support from USAID and its local NGO partner LEAP Africa, entitled “Leadership: The Key to the Development of a Nation.” Aimed at high school students, and hosted at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka Campus in Enugu State, Nigeria, the goal of the workshop was to identify and address challenges facing local and national leaders and position young people to play an active role in shaping their nation. The leadership workshop followed an essay competition on leadership for high school students, also at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka Campus in Enugu State. Over 100 high school students participated, and 10 winners were selected. The Chevron Corporation provided funding for scholarships for the essay competition winners.
